ReadSpeaker TextAid is compensatory (reading) software and provides support to people with dyslexia or other reading and spelling problems with, among other things, word prediction, text-to-speech and spell checker.

For whom and why

ReadSpeaker TextAid can be used from the start of reading and writing education to support reading, learning, writing and studying.

How does it work

• ReadSpeaker TextAid supports students by converting learning materials into audio files. With a click on the read button, users can listen to any text through its audio version. The text that is read at loud, is highlighted on the screen.

• A number of functionalities of the tool are:
  • The reading speed can be adjusted;
  • Texts can be heard in different languages, such as English, German, French and Spanish;
  • The reading ruler or screen masking allows the user to concentrate better on the text;
  • Word prediction, dictionary and spell checker are provided;
  • Texts can be downloaded as mp3 files.
  • In addition, textbooks are available at Dedicon. They can be uploaded in TextAid, allowing textbooks to be opened and read on all devices.
• Finally, the tool is completely cloud-based, so that no software has to be installed. This allows the user to login to his personal account and get started anytime, anywhere and on any online device.
