Interpreter support

What

If you have a hearing impairment, you may need an interpreter to participate in educational and/or examination activities.

The Cel Special Educational Learning Unit of the Ministry of Education and Training (Cel SOL) provides interpreter support for students with a hearing impairment so that they can successfully participate in teaching and exam activities. This concerns support via a sign language interpreter and / or a writing interpreter.

  • The Flemish Sign Language interpreter converts live what the teachers and fellow students communicate in class into Sign Language and voices what you tell as a student.

  • The interpreter writes down live what the teachers and fellow students communicate. Through these notes you can immediately follow the lesson.

As a student you can request a combination of writing interpreter support and VGT interpreter.
