Jessica is a 21-year old girl from Ireland who studies French, Spanish and Irish and who is very interested in languages and culture. Last year she went on Erasmus to Barcelona. Jessica has a cerebral palsy which results in a physical disability.
When we visited Jessica while she was in Toulouse for an internship abroad she talked very positive about her international experiences, but also she mentioned the fact that she had poor assistance during her Erasmus. Jessica’s experience abroad and her determination to talk about her international experience made her Student Erasmus Ambassador 2012 for Ireland. By doing this she wants to share her story and to enhance the program. More specifically, she wants to create better opportunities for persons with a disability.
We got to know Jessica as someone who loves to spend time at the library and to practice foreign languages while meeting people from other countries. Also, she loves to go to the movies and to plan activities with friends and family. Jessica doesn’t want her disability to hold her back from going outside and is very determined to reach her goals.
